ST. LUCIA SR4 U16 TRANSITIONAL SERIES - DAY ONE RESULTS

Two St. Lucia players Jordan Hunte and Arden Rosemond advances to the main draw for the championship of the U16 SR4 St. Lucia Leg. 


With opening remarks from Tournament Referee Ms Scyla Murray and Tournament Supervisor Mr. Jermille Danclar the St Lucia SR4 U16 Transitional Series Tennis Tournament served off in grande style today at the National Tennis Centre in Beausejour, Gros Islet. 

Matches started with the boys round robin where players competed for a spot in the main draw, on first Sebastian Sylvester from Trinidad battled it out with Petterson George St. Lucia, Sylvester defeating George in straights sets 6-1 6-2.  Jordan Hunte St. Lucia defeated Saneil Bernard also from St. Lucia in straight sets 6-1 6-0. On centre court  Rodaine Monelle Antigua claimed victory over Jonas Sylvester St. Lucia defeating him in straight sets 7-6 6-2. The boys draw is very competitive as the number one positions are the only players advancing to the main draw as this format of the competition. We also saw a great performance from Arden Rosemond today as he defeated in straight sets 7-5 6-2 Josh Gonsalves from Trinidad & Tobago and Orlando Augustin St. Lucia 6-2 6-2 securing a spot in the main draw.

At the end of the day the four boys who advanced to the main draw were Jordan Hunte St. Lucia, Levi Hinkson Trinidad & Tobago, Sebastian Sylvester Trinidad & Tobago and Arden Rosemond St. Lucia. 

The girls took to the courts in the second round of competition with Selene Kentish from Antigua claiming two victories today first taking on Alysa Elliott St. Lucia defeating her in straight sets 6-2 6-2 and the Aviona Edmund St. Lucia also defeating her in straight sets 6-1 6-3. 

In a match that took three hours to be decided Jorja Mederick defeated Alannah Bousquet 7-6 7-5.  Alysa Elliott showed no mercy defeating our number ranked u14 player Jorja Mederick  6-2 6-2. 

Matches continue tomorrow at the NTC from 9:00am where we have the boys playing for positions 1 to 12 and the main draw players for the championship.
