UPDATE ON CHRISTMAS TENNIS TOURNAMENT 2022

Champions have been crowned, as ranking points are up for grabs. 

The event which started on Friday 13th January with a total of forty-five athletes mainly juniors has been very entertaining as we saw a higher level of match-play from the athletes.

Advancing to the final to be played on Friday 20th January in the boys U10s is Immanuel Charles student of the Gros-Islet Primary, he will be challenged by Aayush Sharma student of the Montessori Centre for the championship. The girls U10 has been decided with Merkisha Justin student of the Balata Primary School as the finalist and Samuella Bertrand also student of the Balata Primary as the champion. 

In the girls U14s the Jn Marie sisters will be contesting for the championship. Amia defeated number one seed Jaelyn Henry in the semi-final 6-4 6-0 and Amara defeated Brianna Jn. Baptiste 6-4 6-2.

On Sunday 15th a new U14 boys champion was crowned, Sanjay Lake who upset Denney Estava in straight sets 5-3 4-2. Both athletes played their best with all games being decided by strategized play. 

A mother daughter Open final will take place on Friday 20th for the women's open title. Iyana Paul will face Scyla Murray, promises to be exciting. 

The men's open semi-final is scheduled for Wednesday 18th January, Thaddeus Emile will face play Ajaunie Scott and Petterson George will face Ricardo Francois for a chance to advance to the final on Friday 20th January. 

The tournament has been very exciting thus far, the excitement continues on Wednesday see you there.
