St. Lucia to be represented by eleven athletes eight girls and four boys.

Proceeding with full vigor the St. Lucia Tennis Association is in final stages of preparation to host the Sagicor COTECC U12 & U14 Tennis Tournament. From the 10th-15th August the National Tennis Centre in Beausejour will be blazing with full action and top class tennis as participants from 11 countries in the region including Antigua, Barbados, Bermuda, French Guiana, Honduras, Martinique,  Dominican Republic, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago and host St. Lucia will be competing for the different event titles and COTECC ranking points. Players will be defending their points and will also be trying to attain additional points towards their rankings.

This year the tournament has been promoted to Grade One by COTECC and more points are up for grabs. This is the first time St. Lucia is hosting a Grade One COTECC event.

Coach Vernon Lewis, Ron Blanchard, Dean White and Scyla Murray have been working with our national teams preparing them for all regional tournaments. Training for this event particular has been ongoing all year round by our top athletes as this is our biggest U12 & u14 tournament for the year. A tournament at this level requires high intensive training and male and female athletes alike have been undergoing the same. In the 12 & under event St. Lucia will be represented in the girls category by Latoya Murray, Amara Jn. Marie and Brianna Jn Baptiste.

Five girls will be representing St. Lucia in the U14category they are; Alysa Elliott, Jorja Mederick, Iyana Paul, Alannah Bousquet and Amelia Rosemond. Those players have all toured the region for the year and we expect good results from them.

Three St. Lucian boys will be vying for the title and will be trying for points in this tournament. Arden Rosemond, Saneil Bernard and Saige Charlemagne all national players have been exposed to this level of competition.

We encourage the public to come out in large numbers and support our local stars.

The St. Lucia Tennis Association also wishes to thank Sagicor for their continued support towards the development of tennis in St. Lucia and coming on board for the second year to host this prestigious tournament.
