SAGICOR CHRISTMAS TENNIS TOURNAMENT- RESULTS DAY ONE

The Sagicor Christmas Tennis Tournament served off today at the National Tennis Centre with exciting first round matches from our juniors. On centre court we saw the number one seed in the girls draw Amara Jn. Marie student of the Gros-Islet Primary School defeating Amelia Rosemond in straight sets 4-1 5-3. She also went on to defeat Eridania Mcvane in straight sets 4-0 4-0. Second seed Latoya Murray student of the Babonneau Secondary School also was on a winning streak defeating Natasha Charles in straight sets 4-2 4-1 and Janae Williams 4-0 4-0. Other girls 14s matches played today was; Lindy Amedee defeated Janae Williams 4-1 4-0, Eridania Mcvane defeated Emma Duval 4-2 4-2 and Natasha Charles defeated Lindy Amedee 4-0 4-2.

In the boys 14s category number one seed Jonas Sylvester defeated Nathanael Charles 4-0 4-0, he also defeated Xhan Riviere 4-0 4-0. On court two we saw Brandon Eugene taking on Ronaldo St. Juste defeating him in straight sets 4-0 4-2. St. Juste later went on to defeat Nathanael Charles 4-0 4-0.

Moving on to the seniors, number one seed in the girls 18s Jorja Mederick did not have a good take off today as she fell to the racket of Aviona Edmund defeating her in straight sets 6-3 6-3, however, Mederick was able to recover after that loss defeating Jace Leon in straight sets 6-1 6-0. Second seed in the girls draw Iyana Paul defeated Nadjema Morille in straight sets 6-3 6-0.

Boys 18s number one ranked player Arden Rosemond was unable to hold his end after falling to the racket of Joey Angeloni in straights sets 6-3 6-3. Angeloni has been off the tournament chart for quite some time now making his debut today with a remarkable performance. Second seed Aaron Gerald defeated Joshua Dujon in straights sets 6-1 6-0 he also defeated Corey Charles in straight sets 6-2 6-0. We also saw great performances from Petterson George defeating Corey Charles in straight sets 6-0 6-0 he also defeated Joshua Dujon 6-1 6-0.

Matches continues tomorrow at the National Tennis Centre, we will see the under 10s orange and green ball and the continuation of the boys and girls 14s and 18s. We invite the public to come in and support our juniors admission is free.
